Handan Campus
Guanghua Towers
Officially in use since 2005, Guanghua Towers, Fudan’s highest structure reaching over 140 meters, is a complex of four buildings to hold seminars, lectures and conferences. It is great to stand at the towers’ foot and look up in awe for all its magnificence, but the best way to enjoy the view is to look at it while lying on the adjacent lawn bathed in sunshine.
South Gate
The south gate of the University is an unmissable spot for visitors planning a photography tour to Handan campus. Amid the current pandemic, a temperature-taking booth has been set up outside the campus as shown in the photo. The banner above the gate reads Fudan is determined to win the battle against the virus.
Fudan University Motto Wall
The inscription reads, “Scientia et studium, quaestio et cogitation,” which means knowledgeable, determined, inquisitive and reflective.
Xiang Hui Hall
Xiang Hui Hall was built in 1947 in commemoration of the University’s late presidents Li Denghui and Ma Xiangbo. Renovated in 2017, it is mainly used today for theatrical performances and ceremonial occasions.
Science Library
Built in 1958, the Science Library houses about 4 million science and arts books and journals. The library is usually packed with students studying for exams at the end of semesters.
Yan Garden
The garden was purchased by the university from its owner in 1934 before being renamed as “Yan”. The word “Yan”, borrowed from a famous poem by Tang Dynasty poet Liu Yuxi, literally means swallow (bird) but indicates the vicissitudes of time.
The Old Gate
The original old gate of the University was built in the current location in 1921 but dismantled during the 1950s. To mark the 100 anniversary of the university, a replica of the gate was built in late 2004. The four characters on plate above the gate reads “Officium et Civitas”, meaning hardworking and gregarious.
University History Museum
The museum is a must-visit for those drawn by the centenary history of the University. It covers an exhibition area of 700 square meters and can hold a maximum of 300 visitors.
Hang-Lung Physics Building
Physics and IT majors attend classes and conduct research in this building constructed in the 1960s.

Han Bing Mansion
This building stands to the east of Xiang Hui Hall and was named after the late Fudan professor Sun Hanbing who died in a bomb attack amid the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression in the 1930s.
Xi Garden
“Xi” means sunrise and Fudan students like reading books here early in the morning. If you visit the campus in summer, come here for a nice view of the blooming lotus flowers in the pond.
Zibin Building
Zibin Building is known among generations of Fudaners as the small White House for its resemblance to the US presidential complex. It is the only building of Fudan University that was constructed in the 1920s and remains intact today.
Fenglin Campus
The Gate
The gate of Fenglin campus is most familiar to Fudan medical students.
